Here is a DELCIOUS Christmas cookie recipe. You can make these with your friends or family, and you will have a blast! Did I mention that these cookies are delicious? Yes? Well, here is a reminder; these cookies are delicious. Click Me for the full recipe, and the official website that I found this recipe on. The recipe below has been slightly altered from the original for better tasting and softer cookies! I tested each recipe (the original and the below) and the one below tastes SO much better. But don't get me wrong, they are both great!
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
What you'll need:
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup butter, softened (The original recipe calls for margarine, but the butter dissolves the sugar better. Also, heat the butter over a stove or in a microwave for 15-25 seconds.)
1 1/2 cups white sugar (I used the brand that the original recipe recommended, which was American Crystal White Sugar, and it turned out AMAZING!)
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together, set aside. In a large bowl, cream together the margarine and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Gradually blend in the sifted ingredients until fully absorbed. Cover dough, and chill for 2 hours.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (176 degrees C). Line cookie sheets with parchment paper. On a clean floured surface, roll out small portions of chilled dough to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut out shapes using cookie cutters. When rolling these out, keep the dough nice and thick...the cookie will be crisp (still good, but not amazing) if rolled too thin.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are barely brown. Keep an eye out...they will seem too pale to remove from the oven, but just when the center doesn't look "wet" anymore, they are done. Remove from parchment paper and cool them on wire racks or on a serving plate.
